Load shedding irks Kalaigaon public

KALAIGAON, April 19: Frequent load shedding in Kalaigaon and neighbouring areas has paralyzed normal life since the past two months.

There is no electricity for most part of the day due to which most business establishment have started using generators. However, high cost fuel is a major worry. Business establishments like medicine shop, internet cafes, and fax centres have been adversely affected. Students have also been affected as power cut during the evening hours is hampering their studies. Meanwhile, 106 villages of Kalaigaon have been shrouded in darkness for the past four days at a time when the fil examition of degree courses under Gauhati University will start soon. The the people of Kalaigaon along with several organizations like AABYSF, AAKRSU have decided to stage a dhar and gherao the Kalaigaon electricity office as a mark of protest.
