'Local tennis player makes Barak Valley proud'

SILCHAR, May 6: Medhangsh Jain has been practising tennis since 2009. Within seven years, he has been selected to play and represent tiol level tennis matches. Medhangsh is also a student of sixth standard studying at Sarla Birla Gyan Jyoti School, Silchar, has brought Silchar into the limelight by winning a talent search under 12. He has been practising at the Silchar Tennis Club. He has won the talent hunt competition that took place in Kolkata. Medhangsh will be playing games at tiol level.

 S. Viswathan, IAS, the Deputy Commissioner of the district, felicitated the young genius in the conference hall of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, on Thursday. Felicitation is a part of talent promotion and his parents always have been encouraging him. Son of Ashish Jain and Shilpa Jain, Medhangsh has a younger brother also. Subhash Mohan Dev, president of the tennis club, expressed his happiness at the news. He added that 150 trainees are there in the club and an encouraging number of female trainees are there. He emoted that at the time of establishing the club in 2005, he was asked, in a press-meet, about the motto behind this club. He replied that one day he wants to see a player from Silchar should represent at the tiol level. H added that ‘his dream has come true.’

Medhangsh Jain told he wants to meet Rafael dal and wants to represent India on world stage. His mother keenly watches tennis tourments on television and keep advising him.
