Longding battalion apprehends NSCN(U) cadre

Kohima, July 9: In a major setback to NSCN(U), Manbai Wangsu, Self Styled Private was apprehended in the early hours of July by the Longding battalion, stated a press release on Monday.

Based on a specific input of a cadre trying to terrorize and extort money from Zedua village, Longding, the battalion swiftly launched an operation and apprehended the cadre. Post spot interrogation the cadre admitted to being part of the banned outfit and has been actively involved in extortion activities in Longding district.

He further admitted to having joined NSCN(IM) in September 2016 and underwent weapons training at Dimapur from September to November 2016. The cadre subsequently defected to NSCN(U) and has been part of the group since then. Longding battalion under the aegis of Dao Divison and has been carrying out relentless operations in South Arunachal Pradesh to keep the area peaceful and out of clutches of insurgents and this apprehension will go a long way in creating fear among the anti national elements in the area.
