Looking for a public toilet? Now Google Maps tells you where to find it

Google Maps, as a part of the central Government's "Loo Review" campaign as added more than 45,000 community and public toilets. With this new facility being offered by the map service provider, it will be quite easy for one to spot a public toilet while being on move.

This new move by Google Map is pretty appreciable. At a time when the government is trying to encourage people to go open defecation free and use the toilets more, finding one easily just by conducting a simple search of a few seconds on the Google Map will help people to a great extent.

The initiative to add such huge numbers of public and community toilets is a joint effort of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and Google. The joint endeavour of Loo Review campaign was launched back in September 2018 with the objective of encouraging all local guides in India to rate and review public toilets on Google Maps.

An official data on the Loo Review campaign has already been mentioned Union Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman in her budget speech that she delivered this month. The data mentioned that the toilet locator, as featured on the app, has witnessed significant growth.

The 45,000 toilets added by the web mapping service are being picked from over 1,700 cities in India. People living in urban areas will basically be able to lo locate the public toilets easily by using the app. Although, the data on the rural toilets shown on the app has not been shared by the government yet, very soon, people in villages too are expected to enjoy this benefit.

In addition to finding the public toilets on Google Maps, the users will also be able to provide feedback on the same which will further help the service provider to make developmental changes in the features.
