Lover Portrayed as Hindu Abducted and Raped Minor Girl in Baksa, Locals claim Love Jihad

Baksa: A 14-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and raped by a youth from a minority community in Salbari Sub-Division under Baksa District on Monday evening.

As per sources, the notorious youth identified as Aidur Ali introduced him as Rahul Nath, allegedly portraying himself to belong from the Hindu community to persuade the victim girl.

The Gobardhana Police on June 10, arrested the youth for allegedly abducting and raping a 14-year-old minor girl in Salbari subdivision.

Sources also informed that the accused is a resident of Salmara in Bongaigaon.

Local people in the area stated that Aidur Ali used to call her frequently, however, on June 8, while the victim girl was on her way to her relatives’ house; Ali allegedly abducted her and committed the crime.

An FIR was also lodged by the victim girl’s family members after the neighbours rescued the girl and traced the accused.

“The girl was on her way to her uncle’s home at Kalpani when Aidul took her to one of his relatives’ home at No 1 Salmara village of Abhayapuri of Bongaigaon district and raped her for 3 days.”, the FIR stated.

Speaking to media, one of the local people alleged, “We found several contact numbers of girls along with their photographs in his mobile handset. We suspect it to be a case of love jihad, he has been targeting girls like this for quite some time now.”
