HOWRAGHAT, April 22:  Along with rest of the nation, Ujjwala Divas was observed at eight LPG zones in Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council areas. The occasion marked the distribution of more than 800 PMUY connections. Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) Richard Tokbi attended as chief guest at the centrally organized LPG Panchayat held at M/S Enghi Gas Service, Diphu, and addressed a gathering of 500 women beneficiaries. He spoke about the significance of using safe and efficient cooking fuel for health, economic, safety and environment. The LPG Panchayat was organized by Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) Limited with support from M/s Inghi Gas Service and other service providers. In Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong districts combined, LPG penetration is about 33 per cent with predominantly rural population. It is expected that through the LPG Panchayat platform and PMUY, it will be possible to improve LPG penetration beyond 80 per cent.
