Machine-made gamosas seized

TANGLA, April 13: Days after the Udalguri AASU seized machine-made gamosas, the Udalguri district administration sprang into action and seized a good number of machine-made gamosas from a number of retail shops in and around Udalguri town on Thursday. The administrative officials also warned the businessmen involved in importing outstation machine-made gamosas not to repeat the illegal trade in near future. A DIPRO press release further stated that the administration asked the businessmen to sell only the locally-made gamosas during the season of Bihu to encourage the traditional cottage industry of the State. The team led by Assistant Commissioner Lakhyajyoti Duwariya, Extension Officer of Sericulture department, Bhanulata Mushahary, and Inspector of Handloom and Textiles, Munindra Chandra Lahkar conducted the raid in the town and seized the machine-made gamosas, the press release added.
