Maha Shivaratri celebrated

TEZPUR, Feb 25: Maha Shivaratri was celebrated today with great enthusiasm at the historic Mahabhairab Temple.

 About 30,000 people converged at the temple where Maha Shivaratri has been celebrated since long. Celebrations were held across the State on the occasion of Shivaratri, as the devotees thronged the temples to pay obeisance to Lord Siva since the wee hours today.  Long queues were witnessed outside the Shiva temples throughout the day and the main highlights of the fest included exhibition stalls, colourful cultural procession and flying of hundreds of balloons with spiritual messages in the sky.

 Munin Baruah, secretary of the Shivaratri Mela celebration committee of Mahabhairab temple, said that as in the past, this year too a two-day mela had been organized at the temple premises.
