Maharani Gaon Panchayat receives Swachhta Award

JOYSAGAR, Oct 3: The Prime Minister’s Swachhta Award for cleanliness and 100 per cent sanitation has been given to Maharani Gaon Panchayat under Thowra constituency of Sivasagar District.

On Monday, Jorhat LS MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa formally handed over the prestigious prize and cash award to the president of Maharani GP and also felicitated the village headman of Rudrakhya Bamgaon for his contribution in taking the Swachhta campaign to the doors of the villagers.

A meeting was organized in Maharani GP which was chaired by Thowra MLA Kushal Dowari and Jorhat MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa was chief guest. Moreover, Gandhi Jayanti was also observed in this meeting. Besides, former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri was also remembered in the meeting and tributes were offered to both leaders.
