Maharashtra CM hints at Solving the Quote Demands of the Marathi Community

Guwahati: In a rather good news for the people in Maharashtra, the chief minister of the state Devendra Fadnavis has signalled that there might be quota announcements for the Marathi people. Notably, the CM of the state had promised quota benefits for Maratha community in education and jobs and the same was hinted by the CM on Thursday.

Fadnavis said, “I want to assure the community that it should be ready to celebrate the reservation on December 1. There is no need to agitate anymore.”

The statement by the CM followed the submission of the report by the state’s commission for backward classes. As the Maratha community in the state has long been demanding reservations in jobs and education in the form of several protests and silent marches, the government had to pay heed to their demands finally.

Earlier this year, one such protest turned violent and this made the chief minister asked the panel to study the community’s economic and social backwardness and gave it a November 15 deadline.
