Maharashtra Man arrested at Guwahati Railway Station, 8 kg Gold Recovered

Guwahati: Government Railway Police (GRP) on Monday at around 12.25 pm conducted a search operation inside Dn train- 12346 Saraighat Express, Coach No-A1 , Berth no-23 and recovered at least 5 pieces of gold bars from the possession of a person hailing from Maharashtra.

The person identified as Kiran Vishwanath Patil is a resident of Tavdarwadi, PS-Bhilawadi under Sangli district in Maharashtra.

It may be mentioned that a routine check was conducted by the GRP today inside the coaches of Saraighat Express while it was parked on platform number 2.

As per reports, the seized gold bars weigh around 7998.770 gram which is equivalent to 8 kg.

Speaking to The Sentinel, GRP Officer In Charge, Utpal Das said, “He will be handed over to Customs Department, Guwahati for further actions.”
