Mahindra & Mahindra sales up by 4 per cent

Mumbai, Jan 1: Leading Indian automobile manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) on Friday reported a four percent rise in its vehicle sales in December 2015.

The company sold 37,915 units overall in December 2015 against 36,328 units in December 2014, a rise of 1,587 units in the period under review.

“Inspite of a challenging exterl environment, we at Mahindra have closed December on a positive note,” said Pravin Shah, president and chief executive (automotive), M&M in a statement.

Domestic vehicle sales stood at 34,839 units in the aylsed period against 34,460 units in December 2014. Passenger vehicles comprising utility vehicles, cars and vans clocked 18,197 units compared to 17,980 units in the similar month of 2014, the statement said.

In December 2015, M & M sold 528 medium and heavy commercial vehicles against 303 units in December 2014 at a growth rate of 74 percent. Three-wheeler sales remained flat with 4,177 units compared to 4,112 units clocked in the like period of 2014. Exports in the alysed period registered healthy growth with a rise of 65 percent. From 1,868 units in December 2014, exports grew to 3,076 units in the alysed period, the statement added. (IANS)
