Majuli to be connected by railway line from Gogamukh

DHEMAJI, Feb 21: Majuli, the biggest river island in the world, will soon be connected by railway line from Gogamukh  via Dhakuakha. Majuli is a tourist spot and it faces devastating floods every year. But the biggest river island has already drawn the attention of tourists from all over for its rich cultural heritage.  But the communication bottle neck impedes the flow of the tourists. The common people who often have to go out of Majuli for different purposes also have to suffer a lot.  ba Kumar Doley, cabinet minister of Assam and representative of Dhakuakha constituency, apprised the Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu about the sufferings of the people. The Railway Minister was convinced and accordingly he asked the Railway ministry to take all necessary steps for the extension of the train line up to Majuli from Gogamukh via Dhakuakha. He also ordered his Ministry to allocate necessary fund for this new route in the budget.
