Man chained up after coal goes missing

GUWAHATI: A truck driver, one Tapan Bora was discovered chained and ruthlessly beaten up at a parking lot in Beharbari on Thursday morning. The Axomia Yuva Manch has filed a case (259/19) in this regard. Two people Saurav Sarkar and Laru Gopal Mahanta have been arrested in this connection. According to police sources, around five days ago, Tapan Bora was supposed to bring coal from Tinsukia in his truck (NL 02 Q 5857) from suspected coal owners Ramesh Rai and Ashok Nath. The truck was discovered by employees of Rai and Nath, bereft of the coal, due to which they chained Bora at the parking lot of Rai. Bora has confessed that he sold off the coal for Rs 2 lakh at Bokakhat and shared the profit with the handyman. Owing to this, Saurav Sarkar counter registered a case (264/19) against Bora. Further investigation is being made into the matter.
