Man dies after falling from wooden bridge

GAON, January 31: One man died on Saturday night after falling down from a wooden foot bridge over Kolong River near Nowgong Law College in gaon town. According to sources, the person has been identified as Faruk Hussain of gaon Bhuyanpatty who was a tailor by profession. Sources added that on Saturday night Hussain and his wife were returning home from his tailoring shop in a rickshaw. A wheel of the rickshaw fell into a hole due to which the rickshaw turned upside down and Hussain fell into the river and sustained severe injuries. Later he was rescued and sent to Guwahati for better treatment. But he died on the way. Interestingly, the wooden bridge was repaired due to the initiative of MLA Dr Durlav Chamua in 2012 by PWD gaon Rural Division. But soon after the bridge was dilapidated.
