'Mandal' allegedly caught taking Bribe in Guwahati, Arrested by Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Unit

Guwahati: Acting on a tip-off, the sleuths of the Assam Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption unit caught the one 'Mandal' from the office of the Revenue Circle of Dispur under Kamrup Metro District at around 7 pm today for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 from a person.

As per a press statement, the 'Mandal' identified as Sayed Intaruddin Ahmed had accepted the bribe from the complainant Panchami Timung who was about to sell her plot of land at Birkuchi in Guwahati.

It has also come to light that the accused 'Mandal' had demanded a bribe of Rs. 1,50,000 from the complainant for the land sale permission. Thus, Panchami Timung approached the Anti Corruption Bureau Police Station and registered a case at the ACB PS under Case No. 22/2018.

A case was registered under section 7(A)/13(1)(A)/7(B) of PC Act (as amended in 2018).

It may be mentioned that a house search has been followed up by the ACB team and the arrested accused 'Mandal' will be forwarded to the Special Court on Thursday.
