Mangaldai College gives away Star Student Awards

MANGALDAI, March 16: In a unique and novel initiative to inspire and encourage the students to concentrate more in their studies and achieve excellence in their academic career, Mangaldai College, after getting its me included in the ‘Star College Scheme’ this year  instituted by the Department of BioTechnology under the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, has instituted the Star Student Award for the best students in the four Science subjects, Zoology, Chemistry, Botany and Physics.

After a detailed and transparent procedure on the basis of academic performances, four students, Mridusmita th in Botany, Prab Kumar th in Chemistry, Dibya Jyoti Deka in Physics and Karisma Amin Hazarika in Zoology were selected for the award. In a well-attended function organized at the Science Auditorium of the College recently, Professor Ashish Kumar Mukherjee of the Department of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of Tezpur University conferred the Star Student Award, which comprised Rs 5000 in cash, a trophy and packets of valuable books, to each of the selected students.

Professor Mukherjee, who has earned a reputation in the intertiol level also, took part as a resource person in the semir on the topic ‘A popular talk on career opportunity and challenges in Biotechnology-an inter-discipliry subject’ organized by Mangaldai College in collaboration with Interl Quality Assessment Cell (IQAC), Department of Biotechnology, Government of India and Institutiol Level Biotech Hub. He also interacted with the students and appealed to them concentrate on three Ds - determition, devotion and dedication - in achieving their goal.

Earlier Principal Dr. Khagendra Kumar th in his welcome speech explained in details the initiatives being taken to bring a total change in the academic atmosphere of the college.
