Mangaldai Municipality Board organizes eye check-up camp

MANGALDAI, June 30: Mangaldai Municipality Board (MMB), in a bid to express solidarity with the safai workers and other employees of the MMB, on Friday organized a day-long eye check-up and treatment camp at the MMB.

A total of 250 safai workers along with their children and other employees of MMB availed the facilities offered in the camp free of cost. Chairman of MMB, Pratap Bordoloi took the initiative for organizing the eye camp exclusively for the safai workers and staff for the first time in MMB.

Inaugurating the eye camp, Darrang Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Barman appreciated the initiative of the civic body at the district headquarters town which reflected the concern and care of civic body towards the all-round well-being of the safai workers and their children. Earlier, MMB chairman Pratap Bordoloi in his welcome speech offered hearty gratitude to Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Barman and Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum-Executive Officer of MMB, Pankaj Chakravorty for their innovative ideas and initiatives in rebuilding the town.

Pankaj Chakravorty in his speech highlighted the proposed major schemes towards the all-round development of the town. All the Ward Commissioners of MMB, media persons and leading citizens of Mangaldai also attended the camp only to appreciate and encourage the initiative of the civic body. Ophthalmic surgeons Dr. Nani Gopal Saharia and Dr. Ajanta Bordoloi with the required staff of the eye department rendered their service in the camp. Joint Director of Health Services, Dr. Roop Lal Noonisa, and Subdivisional Health and Medical Officer Dr. Nirmal Beria also attended the camp.
