Manipur House passes Visitors bill

IMPHAL March 16: The Manipur Regulation of Visitors, Tents and Migrant  Workers Bill, 2015 was passed today in the Manipur Assebly today. Five opposition members had walked out before the passing of the bill. Ruling Congress MLA Y. Erabot also pointed out some defects. All the MLAs demanded handing over the Bill to the select committee and passing the same in the next session. Chief Minister Okram Ibobi said that 75% of the recommendations of the all political parties committee were included in the Bill. He said that if need be the bill could be amended. He said that the state government could not fix the base year or deny the land ownership rights to the people. The JCILPS called a general strike which ended  this evening.
