Manu-Sumeeth jump to 17th in rankings

Kuala Lumpur, Dec 25: Following their maiden Grand Prix title win in the Mexico Open, the men’s doubles pair of Manu Attri and B. Sumeeth Reddy have jumped three places to be 17th in the badminton world rankings. Manu and Summeth, who defeated Thailand’s Bodin Issara and Nipitphon Puangpuapech in Mexico last weekend, also matched their career-best rankings they held in August when the latest world rankings were announced on Thursday. However, the women’s doubles pair of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponppa dropped a place to 14th. Japan’s Shizuka Matsuo and Mami ito, who won the women’s doubles title in Mexico, moved up three places to be 13th, forcing Jwala and Ashwini to drop a place. IANS
