Dibrugarh, April 1: Although the State Government is making an effort towards reforming the education system of the State by conducting Gunotsav, it has been learnt that many schools in the tea garden regions of the district have not received books on certain subjects even after three months of the start of the present academic year.

The situation, apart from putting the respective teachers in a fix, has deprived hundreds of students of their Right to Education. Impeding the smooth functioning of a total number of 121 such schools, the inexplicable and sorry situation has raised many eyebrows regarding the commitment and dedication of the Education Department of the State.

According to sources, 121 primary schools have not received the first standard books of Language and English. Similarly, students of Class III and Class V have also not received their Mathematics and Language books respectively. Given the seriousness and gravity of the issue, it has garnered sharp criticism from many, including an office bearer of Baratani Primary School, located within Greenwood Tea Estate. Apart from this, a public meeting was also held on March 30 at the FKS English Academy here in an attempt to highlight the critical issue and explore the possible solutions. To make matters worse, the students of many primary schools of the district have not received their uniform as well.
