Golaghat, April 6: The central committee of the All Assam OBC students’ Union carried out a mass sigture campaign at Bengekhowa area of Golaghat town on Thursday demanding removal of Kheitan Weigh Bridge at the location and to resolve traffic srls in the area.

The students’ union central committee president Ajit Bora and organising secretary Rajib Tamuly said that there are serious  traffic problems every day at Bengekhowa area for illegal truck parking, leading to a large number of accidents in the area at different times. Notably, an FCI godown is located at Bengekhowa and more than three hundred trucks come to measure weight at the Kheitan Weigh Bridge. These trucks are parked in the busy Golaghat to Furkating road as there is no provision of parking place provided by Kheitan Weigh Bridge. The result being that the general public are forced to face immense problems.

On the other hand, the Golaghat administration has allegedly ignored the problems according to the students’ body.  The union has demanded immediately removal of the Khetain Weigh Bridge from the area in order to do away with the traffic srls.
