Borah regretted that the content and art of modern Assamese cinema in context of message and technicality had not been appreciated by general masses though some of them were acclaimed intertiolly when screened to the outside world even as Assamese cinema in formative years created a niche of its own in intertiol are. While cinema of regiol languages like Mising and Bodo made considerable progress in terms of themes and responsiveness, the Assamese cinema on the other hand lagged far behind, Borah said.
