Massive rally in Silchar

Our Correspondent

Silchar: Amra Bengali, West Medinipur unit, Kolkata, has expressed its concern at the fate of a huge number of Bengalis who have been left out from the NRC draft list which was published on July 30. In this regard, they took out a massive rally and staged a protest demonstration before converging in front of the statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in the district. The rally moved across the streets from Keranitola to Burdge Town and LIC road before converging in front of the statue at Punchuruchak.

Among others who addressed the gathering included Shubhendu Ghosh, Raju Manna and Shankar Prasad Kundu. They said that the update process of NRC is nothing but a conspiracy to exclude Bengalis from the list. They gave a clarion call to the Bengalis to unite and raise their voice. This information has been shared at a press-release by Bokul Chandra Roy of Amra Bengali.
