Massive Rally ‘Sankalp Yatra’ in Protest of Citizenship (Amendment) Bill

Guwahati: Raising heavy demands for the elimination of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, not less than seventy indigenous associations and parties along with the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti led by Akhil Gogoi have staged a huge rally entitled ‘Sankalp Yatra’ on Sunday.

The rally flagged off from Sadiya along with a coordinated response from other places of the state like Diphu, Jonai and Dhubri at the same time on Sunday. As per schedule, the rally has started on Sunday morning with at least one thousand motorcycles and other vehicles and is to reach Guwahati on November 16. The rally is further to gherao the Janata Bhavan.

The associations are also demanding an acute step towards the elimination of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 or else a resignation of the Assam government.
