Mathematics competition

Silchar, April 9: In a bid to inspire, encourage and motivate students to take interest in learning Abacus, Chotto Prochesta, an NGO devoted towards the uplift of mankind, and Abacus Mental Maths and Brain Development Academy jointly organized a mental mathematics competition which was held at Udharbond on Sunday. 760 students participated in the competition which was held in four categories. The competition began with lighting of the auspicious lamp by an Udharbond based doctor Kakdeep Sharma. Pik Biswas, state secretary, All India Abacus, spoke at length regarding Abacus and its use. Pik Biswas taught participants the basics of Abacus and mental mathematics. His lively way of teaching inspired all the participants. In addition to this, a host of song and dance items were also organized. In addition to first, second and third prize winners, 10 more prizes were also given in each category. The programme was ably conducted by Reshma Dhar and Rudra Prasad Das, district coorditors of Abacus.
