Me-Dam Me-Phi celebration begins in the bank of the historic Rajmao Pukhuri

JORHAT: The two-day Me-Dam-Me Phi celebration kicked off in the bank of the historic Rajmao Pukhuri on Wednesday. The celebration has been organized by Tai Ahom Sanskriti Sangrakshan and Siksha Bikash Samiti (TAISSAB) centrally. The TAISSAB flag was hoisted by vice-president Suresh Gogoi followed by Damchaou Puwal Chandra Barua Memorial Drawing competition where hundreds of school students took part, followed by quiz completion, Phuralung ceremony and cultural evening, said Bijoy Barua, an executive members of TAISSAB.

DEMOW: Under the patronage of the Ahom Samaj of Demow and in association with the people of Demow, the Me-Dam-Me-Phi celebration started in Demow Public Playground from Wednesday with a two-day long programme. The rituals of the festival began with Phuralung Puja in Demow Public Playground on Wednesday afternoon. On January 31, in the morning, the maidam tarpan will be offered and after that, the Dam-Phi-Puja will be performed. Drawing competition will also be organized on the day and after that, the prize distribution ceremony and community feast will be organized.
