Medical College Teachers Association of Assam Demand 7th Pay Commission’s Salary & NPA

GUWAHATI: The Medical College Teachers Association of Assam has written to Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Piyush Hazarika seeking resolution of their various demands.

A letter written by Dr Jayanta Choudhury, Dr Rajiv Kumar Das and Dr H Das, president and joint secretaries of the association respectively have informed Hazarika that more than half of medical college faculties of Assam are being deprived of their Seventh Pay Commission salaries and arrears due to non-granting of ‘salary slip’ from the office of Accountant General of Assam. The AG office has stated that due to some anomalies in pay structure of medical college faculties, salary slips could not be issued. The letter has requested the Health Minister to take appropriate actions to remove such anomalies and ensure that all medical college teachers receive their deserving salaries.

The letter has also stated that while non-practicing allowance (NPA) as per the Seventh Pay Commission is not being paid to medical college faculties, doctors of Health (A) – referring to doctors who are not teachers of the six medical colleges in Assam — are drawing the same.
