Silchar, July 4: A free medical-cum-awareness camp was organized by Lakhipur block primary health centre at a remote village Chamtilla under Lakhinagar model village GP in Jirighat PS recently. Since the village is located in a very interior area, the medical team comprising about 20 members was safely escorted by Jirighat police and SSB team. The team had to cover a distance of 6 km on foot. The total population of the village and Rani Colony is around 300. A total number of 90 patients were treated at the camp.

A total number of 25 children and 10 pregnant women were immunized while presence of haemoglobin level was tested in case of 10 patients. Vitamin A dose was given to all children aged from 9 months to 10 years. 6 patients having fever underwent malaria test. But none of them were detected with the disease. Later, people of the village were advised to maintain clean habits, keep their surroundings clean and also to keep their food and water safe, covered and cleaned. Both the medical and awareness camps were done under the direction of medical officer Dr Y Kishore Singh and BPM Sanjukta Das. Dr Y Kishore Singh has been relentlessly working for organizing such camps in the remote parts of the region. People have expressed their satisfaction and are grateful towards Dr Y Kishore Singh, Sanjukta Das and the whole medical team.
