MeECL to take loan to clear pending dues

Shillong, March 17: Meghalaya government today said that it was contemplating to take loan from fincial institutions to clear the debt of Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL).

 Informing the House here today, Power Minister Clement Marak informed that the total amount pending to different utilities is Rs 457.97 crore.

 Out of this, the dues pertaining to NEEPCO is Rs 375 crore, the Power Minister informed. The other pending dues include for other power utilities are Rs 20.78 crore – tiol Thermal Power Corporation (NHPC), Rs 8.6 crore – tiol Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), Rs 6.19 crore – Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), Rs 7.62 crore – Unscheduled Intercharge (UI), Rs 2.15 crore – Mittal Processor Private Limited (MPPL), Rs 0.71 crore – NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited (NVVN),  Rs 8.76 crore – Global Energy Private Limited (GEPL), Rs 0.4 crore – Power System Operation Corporation (POSOCO), Rs 14.6 crore – Wheeling Charge (ASEB), Rs 12.43 crore – ONGC Tripura Power Corporation (OTPC) and Rs 0.73 crore – PTC India Limited.
