Meeting held to discuss preparations for Independence Day celebration at Dibrugarh, Assam

Dibrugarh, July 19: A meeting in connection with the Independence Day celebration to be held centrally at the Chowkidinghee Field on August 15, took place in the DC office on Thursday. Presided over by DC Laya Madduri, the meeting discussed security and management at length. In the meeting, Additional SP, Nitya Ranjan Chutia highlighted the need to light up the Chowkidinghee Field on all sides at night before the event and to keep the surroundings of the venue clean. Chutia also informed that all necessary precautionary measures, including keeping strict vigil on the town’s entry points, had been taken in order to avert the occurrence of major disruptions just before the event.

Making quick note of the suggestion, Madduri ordered the department concerned to get all the sides of the field lighted up from August 1. She also ordered for closing the venue for general public from August 1 till the celebrations. Madduri, at the same time, directed the department concerned to arrange for quiz and drawing competitions in sync with the event among students and also to identify the performance group for the cultural programme scheduled during the event.

The meeting was attended by many notable officers and individuals, including District Development Commissioner Jadhav Saikia, Chief Executive Officer of Zila Parishad, Diganta Saikia.
