Meeting held to discuss toilet construction project in Margherita school

MARGHERITA, June 13: A general meeting was held on Saturday at Gandhi Vidya Mandir High School premises, Margherita.

The meeting was presided over by Margherita Bazaar Committee president Sawarmal Agarwal and many distinguished persons of Margherita were present such as Gandhi Vidya Mandir High School Maging Development Committee president Mr Someswer Bora, Kodarmal Periwal, P Singh,  Rajendra Rai,  Bikash Dasgupta, Dr OP Sahu, Gandhi Vidya Mandir  High School senior teacher OP Shukla, Gandhi Vidya Mandir High School Headmaster Bechan Singh and Gandhi Vidya Mandir  LP Headmaster Girish Pandey.

The meeting was held as because an office letter NO.ASE 653/2013/97 dated February 7, 2015 which was send by Rajiv Kumar Bora, Additiol Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam, Education Department to Gandhi Vidya Mandir High School, Margherita  regarding construction of  toilets by PSUs and also by SSA/RMSA in the school premises.

The total cost of project is Rs 6.22 lakh and it was sanctioned by Oil India Limited under ‘Swachh Bharat Swacch Vidyalaya’ project. While Rs 3.11 lakh had been deposited in the school’s account, the remaining money will be given after the construction of the toilets.

Rajendra Rai alleged in the meeting that Ajit Singh, Headmaster ME Section of Gandhi Vidya Mandir School was indulging in dirty politics along with Gandhi Vidya Mandir School Maging Committee members.  Sources said that in Margherita subdivision all the government provincialized schools were amalgamated but Gandhi Vidya Mandir School had not been amalgamated despite orders for amalgamation from the State Education Department.

Sources further alleged that Ajit Singh, Headmaster of Gandhi Vidya Mandir School ME section was doing politics so that LP Section, ME Section and High School of Gandhi Vidya Mandir did not get amalgamated. Singh and a few others did not attend today’s meeting.

 A resolution was passed that the construction of toilets would be done at Gandhi Vidya Mandir School, Margherita.
