Meeting on flood preparedness held in Golaghat

Golaghat (Dhekial), Feb 15: A flood preparedness meeting was convened by the District Disaster Magement Committee at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Wednesday. The meeting, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Gaurav Bothra, discussed various aspects related to flood preparedness in the district ahead of the ensuing monsoon. The Deputy Commissioner asked all departments concerned to be well-prepared to tackle any eventuality and discussed the various action plans prepared by individual departments for handling flood situations, including pre-flood preparedness and post-flood magement scerios. The Deputy Commissioner also asked all concerned to expedite the process for utilization of RG funds received so far. The Deputy Commissioner directed the Water Resources and PWD departments to identify sensitive spots along embankments and roads and expedite the repair process at the earliest. He also directed all Circle Officers to select sites for setting up relief camps and make necessary arrangements to provide timely flood relief and post-flood magement. Issues related to distribution of flood relief material, drinking water supply, medicine stock and health services, boat and ferry services, desigted stores for storing flood relief material, pre-flood vaccition, regulation of power supply, among others were discussed during the meeting.
