Meeting on flood preparedness held

Dibrugarh, Feb 17: A discussion on flood preparation in the District was chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Laya Madduri here on Friday.

Addressing the meeting, which was attended by Dibrugarh MP Rameswar Teli and local MLA Prashanta Phukan, DC and Chairperson of District Disaster Magement Authority (DDMA), Laya Madduri, have directed the heads of all the Departments to be prepared for dealing with any kind of flood situation in the district.

During the meeting, talks were held on other issues like rapid completion of construction of all the town drains, fixing the price of necessary food items, ensure the availability of food items for children in flood relief camps, fixing the location of relief camps for flood affected people, identifying elevated location for sheltering animals during flood. The DC also issued directives to Agriculture and Animal Husbandry and Veteriry department to be prepared with submitting an immediate report to DDMA.
