Meeting on measles rubella focuses on micro-level planning

Hailakandi, March 31: The first District Core Committee meeting on measles rubella was held at GNM Training School in Hailakandi town on Thursday.

 Joint Director, Health Services, Dr. Avijit Basu emphasized the importance of micro-level planning on MR campaign involving all stakeholders to ensure cent per cent coverage in the district. “The block primary health centres (BPHCs) must work in tandem with all stakeholders so that no children is left out of the campaign. Micro level planning is a must for all success of the campaign,” he said. Dr Basu underscored the importance of finding out the actual class wise enrolment of students in government and private schools and Anganwadi centres under respective block primary health centres. 

 Awareness is the key for success of the MR vaccition campaign, Dr. Basu urged the District Information and Public Relations Officer to pitch in all efforts in this regard. “Besides creating awareness, efforts must also be made to dispel doubts, if any, from the minds of the people about the upcoming campaign and to spread the message loud and clear that the vaccine is highly safe and effective,” he added.  

 Stressing on parents-teachers’ meeting (PTM) in private and schools and Anganwadi centres as significant for the success of the vaccition campaign, Dr.Basu said, “The PTM is one of the vital aspects for creating mass awareness on the vaccition campaign.”

 Dr. Basu made it unequivocally clear that no negligence or complacency would be tolerated and that ‘the whole exercise is being closely monitored by the Deputy Commissioner’.  Meanwhile, a workshop on teachers’ orientation programme involving ICDS was organized on Monday. The process for appointing a nodal teacher from each school is under way.  The first two weeks of the campaign will be held in schools and the next two weeks in fixed outreach sites.
