Meghalaya makes marriage registration compulsory

SHILLONG, June 10: Marriage registration has become compulsory in Meghalaya. This has came into effect after the Meghalaya Compulsory Registration of Marriages Rules, 2015 has been notified by the state government.  The Secretary of Excise, Registration, Taxation & Stamps Department has informed this. As per provision under the Rules, the Registrars of Marriages have also been duly appointed for East and West Khasi Hills, East and West Jaintia Hills, Mairang and Sohra Civil Sub-Division.
