SHILLONG, Feb 10: The Meghalaya Elementary Pre-Service Trained Teachers Association (MEPSTTA) today has reasserted their demand to the state government to immediately conduct the Meghalaya Teachers Eligibility Test (ML TET). “We have met the Chief Minister Mukul Sangma last years in the month of December on the matter and we have showed him that as per the RTE Act, the relapsation as provided by the central government to conduct the exam has ended since March 31, 2014 and the Chief Minister told us that after the Cabinet had approved the implementation of the ML TET in the state in May 29, 2015 the matter has been handed over to the Minister in-charge Education R C Laloo,” Kiewshaphrang Thabah president ML TET told newsmen here on Wednesday. He however said that despite getting the approval from the Cabinet to conduct the ML TET exams and even after the directives of the Chief Minister to the Minister in-charge Education to speed up the process in conducting the exams but so far there is no sign to indicate that the government is serious in taking up the matter. “In our discussion with the concern department they had informed us that from their side they are preparing on how to conduct the exams but what is discouraging is that the Minister in-charge Education has not issue any order to speed up the process in order for the exams to be conducted,” he said. He said if the state government keeps on delaying in conducting the exams then the MEPSTTA will take other course of action to pressurize the government.
