Meritorious student of Lakhimpur injured in road mishap fighting for life, mother seeks financial help

LAKHIMPUR: A meritorious student of Lakhimpur belonging to a poor family has been fighting for life in Dibrugarh based Sanjeevani Nursing Home after being seriously injured in a road mishap.

In order to save her talented son, the widowed mother has sought help from the State government, benevolent persons and any charity organization or institution in order to meet his medical expenditure amounting to lakhs of rupees.

The student is Somnath Gogoi, elder son of Kanpona Gogoi, resident of Azad Hokachapori of the district. The mother after much sacrifice and pain, managed to make her son study at the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute in Kolkata. He sustained serious injuries on the head, chest and right leg in an accident that took place at Bormuria Tiniali of North Lakhimpur town on May 26. Notably, he met with the accident when he came home from Kolkata for passport-related work.

Meanwhile, his mother sold their crop lands to manage his medical treatment. His friends and a few benevolent persons extended a helping hand but the money collected is not enough to meet the expenditure. So, his mother and the family have appealed to benevolent persons and the State government to forward and help to save his life.
