TINSUKIA, June 27: The Tinsukia district administration felicitated a total of 82 meritorious students who excelled in the HSLC and HS examinations, 2018 from Tinsukia district on Tuesday. Organized in association with Tinsukia District Adhibidya Parishad, the programme was held at the District Library Auditorium with Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia, Oinam Sarankumar Singh in the chair in presence of academicians, institutional heads, awardees, parents and guardians.

Altogether 51 HSLC students who secured 90.5 per cent and above were felicitated, besides five schools that achieved 90-100 per cent success, namely Hindi English High School, Railway High School, Kailashpur High School and Phillobari High School. In HS category, 31 students who secured top 10 positions in Arts, Science and Commerce streams obtaining 85.5 per cent, 88.7 per cent and 88.5 per cent respectively, including the 9th rank holder in Commerce stream Bishal Debnath from Margherita College, were felicitated.

The government’s successive efforts to streamline quality of education did not yield satisfactory results, as reflected in the recently declared HSLC and HS exam results, in government-run institutions vis-à-vis private institutions, observed Sarat Hazarika, education secretary of AASU, while speaking in the felicitation programme at the District Library Auditorium, Tinsukia on Monday.
