Meritorious students receive laptops under Anundoram Barooah Award

MANGALDAI, February 9: The distribution of laptops under the State Government’s Anundoram Barooah Award to as many as 2,099 students of Darrang district who came out successful in the last HSLC, High Madrassa, Senior Madrassa and Sankrit Tol leaving certificate examition from the district started from Tuesday.

Along with laptop, distribution of Tablet PC under the Chief Minister’s Special Scheme to a total of 1l826 students who passed the same examition with an aggregate percentage of 51 and above also began today. A ceremonial distribution function was organized at the district library auditorium where State Water Resource and Fisheries minister Basanta Das, as the chief guest, ceremonially gave away laptops, tablet PCs along with certificates of appreciation.

The function, chaired by District Development Commissioner-cum-Chief Executive Officer, Darrang Zilla Parisad, Ranjit Kalita, was also attended by many distinguished guests including veteran academicians Dr Biren Deka, Phulendra th Saharia, Additiol Deputy Commissioner Bidyut Bikash Bhagawati, Circle Officer of Mangaldai Revenue Circle Prashanta Barkakoti, and Election Officer Rahul Das along with 3,000 students, teachers and guardians. Earlier the chief guest lit the ceremonial lamp before the portrait of Anundoram Barooah while Inspector of Schools, Darrang, Sadulla Khan outlined the objectives of the function.
