MGNREGA workers stage protest in gaon

gaon, March 24: Allegation of fund misappropriation under MGNREGA scheme has been made in many gaon panchayats of gaon.

On Monday, MGNREGA workers of Laogaon panchayat staged a protest in front of DC office gaon demanding proper inquiry on alleged misappropriation of fund in their panchayat. The protesters alleged that the president of the gaon panchayat, councillor and the secretary had broken all rules of MGNREGA. They utilized tractors and JCB and declined the job card holders in the work.

In 2014-15 fiscal year,  for filling earth in the playground of Laogaon High School (cost Rs 10 lakh), repairing roads from Abdul Hai’s house to Laogaon Railway gate (Rs 10 lakh), from Amin Ali’s house to Imam Hussain (Rs 10 lakh) and road construction from Itapara outpost to Panjakha Mosjid (Rs 10 lakh),  job card holders were not used and by getting little work, the president, the councilor and the secretary misappropriated huge amount of fund, alleged the protesters.

They later submitted a memorandum to gaon Deputy Commissioner seeking enquiry into the alleged corruption.
