MGNREGA workers submit memorandum to Bhanu

GOLAGHAT (Dhekial), Feb 22: The MGNREGA contractual workers in Golaghat district today submitted a memorandum to the Additiol Chief Secretary of Panchayat and Rural Development Department, MGVK Bhanu in Golaghat demanding resolution of various problems of the MGNREGA workers.

The Additiol Chief Secretary MGVK Bhanu today arrived at Golaghat to attend in review meeting in Golaghat with officials of Panchayat and Rural Development department.

In the statement the president and secretary of the organisation Rupjyoti Bora and Pankaj Sarma respectively said that Panchayat and Rural development department had appointed them in various Gaon Panchayats under Development Blocks in the post computer assistant, gram rozgar sahayak and account assistant under tiol Rural Employment Guarantee Act.

They alleged that the employees have not yet received their wages for 22 months from 2010 to 2012.

A meeting was held in the Deputy Commissioner’s office on 30 November 2011 between Deputy Commissioner, Project Director, DRDA, Golaghat and delegation of MGNREGA employees in this regard.  After discussion on the matter it was  decided that monthly remuneration will be paid regularly to the employees and pending 22 months remuneration will be released if sufficient fund under MGNREGA is received in future and if 6% fund of administration expenditure becomes surplus. But after making the fund available, due to alleged negligence of concerned authority the employees have not received their dues till today. The All Assam NREGA Employees Development Council of Golaghat district committee appealed to the Commissioner and Additiol Chief Secretary of Panchayat and Rural Development to take a positive decision in this regard.
