Mid-term convention of Doomdooma Press Club held with day-long programme

TINSUKIA: The mid-term convention for the year 2018-2020 of Doomdooma Press Club was held on Sunday with day-long programme. In the morning, while the club flag was hoisted by president Arjun Baruah, smriti tarpan was performed by secretary Manoj Dutta. The main event was held at the conference hall of Borhapjan’s NH-37 with Arjun Baruah in the chair. Manoj Dutta presented an impressive annual report followed by an audited statement read out by treasurer Pittar Chand Mittal. The meeting adopted several resolutions, notable among these were restoration of the historical Doomdooma-Dangori railway service, establishment of a full-fledged degree college, renovation of the deplorable NH-37 and steps to save Sri Sri Tipuk Mayamora Bajrapur Xatra from erosion.

A good number of journalists across Tinsukia district attended the convention like former Tinsukia District Journalists’ Association (TDJA) president and secretary Anuj Kalita and Manuranjan Das, former vice-president of TDJA, Santanu Goswami, EC member Manas Pratim Gogoi, president and secretary of Tinsukia Press Club, Saroj Gohain and Pranab Phukan respectively and Ramoni Buragohain, president of Digboi Press Club. Among those addressed the gathering as invited guests were former Tinsukia District Journalists’ Association (TDJA) president Himan Bhattacharyya, present TDJA president Dr Rishi Das and TDJA secretary Rana Jyoti Neog.
