Mid-term convention of Margherita Jourlists’ Association concludes

MARGHERITA, Feb 18:  The Margherita Jourlist’s Association two-day 13th mid-term convention concluded.

First day of the Programme began with Margherita Jourlist’s Association popular programme O Mur Gaon which will continue for one month in every village of Margherita constituency, followed by Tinsukia district art competition among school children. In the evening a general meeting of Margherita Jourlist’s Association was held which was presided by Ram Prasad Ambedkar, president of Margherita Jourlist’s Association where Rajyoti Neog, general secretary of Margherita Jourlist’s Association, spoke about some burning problems of Margherita.

The second day’s programme began with hoisting of flag by Ram Prasad Ambedkar, president of Margherita Jourlist’s Association, followed by smriti tarpan by Partha Pratim Goswami, vice-president of Margherita Jourlist’s Association. After that a colourful cultural programme was held.  The programme concluded with an open session where Dr Shashi Kanta Saikia, Principal of Kanoi College, Dibrugarh was present as the chief guest. In his iugural speech, Dr Shashi Kanta Saikia said that jourlism of Assam should be given importance as was potential among the jourlists of Assam.

The open session was presided over by Ram Prasad Ambedkar, president of Margherita Jourlist’s Association where many distinguished persons of Margherita were felicitated for their contribution in different fields such as Dr Ranjit Dutta, noted poet and social worker, Dr Abdul Halim, noted doctor of Margherita, Barun Bora, Literary Pensioner of Margherita and Amulya Dutta, noted educationist of Margherita. The Prab Kumar Deka Memorial Award for Upcoming and Youth Jourlism was given to jourlist Nirmal Bora of Doomdooma for his immense contribution to jourlism.
