Mid-term convention of Margherita Jourlist’s Association

MARGHERITA, Feb 15: The 13th mid-term convention of Margherita Jourlist’s Association will be held on February 17 and February 18 at Margherita India Club. On February 17 the programme will begin with Margherita Jourlist’s Association most popular people’s programme O Mur Gaon which will continue for one month and conclude at Margherita constituency followed by Tinsukia district-level art competition among school children. The first day of the programme will conclude with Margherita Jourlist’s Association general meeting. On February 18, the programme will begin with hoisting of flag by Ram Prasad Ambedkar, president of Margherita Jourlist’s Association, followed by smriti tarpan which will be done by Partha Pratim Goswami, vice-president of Margherita Jourlist’s Association. The open session will be presided over by Ram Prasad Ambedkar. Shashikanta Saikia, Principal of Kanoi College, will be present as the chief guest.  Awards will be given to many distinguished persons of Margherita for their contribution to society such as Dr Abdul Halim, noted doctor of Margherita, Dr Ranjit Dutta, retired Coal India officer, Barun Bora, literary pensioner of Margherita and Amulya Dutta, noted educationist of Margherita. This year, the Prab Deka Memorial Award for Upcoming and Young Jourlist will be given to Nirmal Bora of Doomdooma for his immense contribution in the field of jourlism in Doomdooma region.
