Mini taxi service flagged off at Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH, May 8:   Dibrugarh has come under Mini Taxi Service from today. This is the first taxi service in any district of the state after Guwahati. The  vehicle used for service are TATA IRIS having digital facilities including GPS  for tracking the vehicle,  meter base fare and on the spot receipt print out. The Kumaronichiga based City Cab solution call center controll the entire service with charge rate of Rs.30 for the first two kilometres and Rs.3,00 on every subsequent 200 meters.

“Permit holder may charge Rs.10 on tele booking and Rs, 3 on every 5 minute waiting charge. The service will be available during 10 P.M to 5 P.M while night charges would be 50 percent more over normal application fare.” DTO Sayed Rafiqul Mann briefed the media.

Transport Minister Ajit Singh formally flagged off the service in the presence of a large gathering.

The meeting organized on the occasion at DTO office campus here was presided over by Deputy Commissioner, M.S Manivann while the meeting was attended by the Superintendent of police Ra Bhuyan,  District Transport Officer& secretary RTA , Dibrugarh , Sayed Rafiqul Mann and R.T.A members. The Minister in his brief speech, stated that the service would help passengers of both Rail Station and Airport immensely .Lauding  DTO Mann and his officials for taking pain in introducing such service in the district, Singh  assured to provide all assistance to those transport officials who initiate such innovative transport services in their respective district.

“ We shall start the similar service in other district soon keeping the experience  of Dibrugarh in view”’,  the transport minister Ajit Singh Said.

Earlier, The Motor Vehicle Inspector, Dhajoy Saikia explained the objective of the meeting.
