Mini water supply schemes inaugurated in Baksa

GORESWAR, July 8: State PHE Minister Rihon Daimary inaugurated the Chechapani Chariali Mini-piped Water Supply Scheme at Chechapani and Foreigner Check-post Mini-piped Water Supply Scheme on Saturday under Tamulpur subdivision in Baksa district. In this connection, an inaugural meeting was held at Chechapani which was anchored by Billwa Mangal Roy, Assistant Executive Engineer of Tamulpur subdivision (PHE), and the purpose of the meeting was explained by Mrinal Saharia, Executive Engineer of Baksa Division (PHE).

Bijit Gwara Narzary, MCLA of Darrangajuli BTC constituency, graced the occasion and said that pure drinking water scarcity of the Chechapani Chowk area would be solved with the scheme. Emanuel Muchahary, MLA of Tamulpur LAC attended the meeting and said that such small water supply schemes were most beneficial for the villagers. He also expected many such small water supply schemes to be installed in many villages to solve the problem of pure drinking water in remote areas.

Lwmsraw Daimary, PHE Executive Member of BTC, took part in the meeting and spoke on pure drinking water and Swachh Bharat Mission. He said that many toilets were constructed in Baksa district to make the district open defecation-free. He also said that many households were left out in the PIP in 2012. The PHE officials should identify the left-out households to construct toilets.

Inaugurating the Chechapani Mini-piped Water Supply Scheme, Rihon Daimary spoke about pure drinking water, good health and hygiene. He said that people should consider the water supply scheme as their own property and maintain the scheme for pure drinking water in order to protect themselves from water-borne diseases. The minister directed the officials to ensure implementation of ongoing works in a proper manner by close monitoring of the schemes.

Later, the minister visited Darrangamela area and inaugurated the Foreigner Check post Mini-piped Water Supply scheme with all the dignitaries. The minister also met the local people of Darrangamela.
