Minister's son driven car knocks down bike, cop dies

Shillong, April 7: A personnel of the Meghalaya Police was killed in the wee hours of Saturday when the bike he was riding collided with a Mercedes driven by the son of a Meghalaya Minister. According to police the accident occured at around 12:45 am at 4th Furlong  tri-junction in Shillong between a dark blue private Mercedes having temporary No (AS 01TC 279) driven by Aibansharai Nongsiej (28), son of Cabinet Minister, Alexander L Hek and a Pulsar motor bike (MLO5 J 0913) ridden by Probin D Sangma (38), a jail police with a pillion rider, Probat R Marak, a constable of the Meghalaya Police.
“The pillion rider (Probat R Marak) was declared dead by doctors at Shillong Civil hospital, while Sangma is in critical condition at North East Indira Gandhi Regiol Institute of Health and Medical Sciences,” Davies Nestell R Marak, East Khasi Hills, Superintendent of Police informed.
Meanwhile, Hek said that he will not interfere with the investigation.
The state Health Minister said, “Police are conducting the investigation and the law will take its own course.”
