Miscreants Held, Arms Recovered in Charaideo

Joysagar: The Indian Army Dao division nabbed two miscreants from the Kanubari area of Charaideo district on Sunday night. The Army arrested them during routine checking in the Kanubari border area of Assam-Arunachal Pradesh. The accused were identified as Rem Behum (32) and Tezo Oazhum (27) of Lakhon Basti of Arunachal Pradesh. Two rifles, around 60 live bullets, and suspected gun powder were also recovered from the possession of the accused. The Army team brought the accused to the nearby Sapekhati PS of Charaideo where they were interrogated for more information.

Meanwhile, the Halwating Police of Sivasagar district arrested as many as seven suspects in connection with the SBI ATM loot case on Sunday. The robbers allegedly looted three SBI ATMs some days ago in the Amguri town and also in the Teok area of Sivasagar.

The arrested robbers have been identified as Pankaj Doley (Majuli), Mintu Rai (Guwahati), Lakhi Pegu (N.Lakhimpur), Putul Ali (Nalbari), Rahul Hazarika (Golaghat), Sanjiv Doley (N. Lakhimpur) and Adil Ali (Nalbari). Besides, a Maruti van (AS-14-H-6433) was also seized by the police that was used by the inter-State gang. The ACJM court of Sivasagar district sent the accused to judicial custody for 12 days on Monday.
