Miscreants set fire to Raha toll gate

gaon, April 19: The controversial Raha toll gate is again in the news after some miscreants set fire in the counters of the gate on Saturday night. The toll gate was set by tiol Highway Authority of India to collect fees from vehicles on the four lanes of the East-West Corridor. It was alleged that the collectors of the gate often got into a mess with the vehicle drivers by demanding unlimited fees. Even on April 17, some people allegedly ransacked the toll gate and tried to physically assault the collectors over a dispute regarding the fees. Within 24 hours of this incident, the toll gate counters were set on fire.

The chowkidar of the toll gate said that some miscreants came on bike and a truck and set fire to the counters of the gate on Saturday night. They allegedly threatened the chowkidar and went away. The chowkidar immediately informed the Raha fire station. The fire was later extinguished. Raha police has started an investigation.
